Malik Sandal Polytechnic recently buzzed with eloquence and enthusiasm as it successfully conducted a Speech Competition and a Pick & Speak Competition for its students.
The events saw overwhelming participation, with a great number of students stepping forward to showcase their oratory skills and quick thinking. The atmosphere was charged with interest and passion as each participant delivered their thoughts with confidence and clarity.
The college was honoured to welcome Poet Abdulrazak Aralimatti, a renowned popular writer in English and the Editor of SECAB Times magazine, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Judge. Learned Judge brought his esteemed literary perspective to the competition, providing valuable feedback and judging the performances with detailed attention.
The event concluded with an inspiring address by the Principal Mr. M. Irfan. He commended the participants for their courage and skill, emphasizing the critical importance of effective communication in academic and professional success. He encouraged students to continue honing this essential skill for their future careers.
The competition was a resounding success, not only in identifying talented speakers but also in fostering a spirit of confidence and articulate expression among the entire student body of MSPT.
Inspiring Careers in Tech: SECAB MSPT Alumnus Shares AI Insights and Global Journey
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Malik Sandal Polytechnic, organized an inspiring guest lecture on “From Studies to Success: AI for Your Career Launch.” The program was held at the college seminar hall under the guidance of Mrs. Malanbi Satbache, Head of Department (CSE), and coordinated by Miss Umme Habiba Maginmani, Lecturer CSE.
The distinguished guest speaker was Mr. Nasir Ahmed Momin, a proud 2011 alumnus of the institute and currently a Technology Lead with over 10 years of experience in the IT industry. Mr. Momin has worked with reputed companies such as Infogain, Mphasis, MutualMobile, Quest Global, and Fulcrum GT, and has contributed to projects for global clients including Apple Inc. and Wells Fargo.
In his session, Mr. Momin shared valuable career guidance, offering students practical tips on job search strategies, salary negotiation, and adapting to professional work environments. He also spoke on the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in technology, introducing popular tools like ChatGPT and Gemini, while stressing the importance of strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and system design.
Highlighting the risks of over-dependence on AI, he encouraged students to balance modern tools with problem-solving skills and deep technical understanding. The lecture also explored diverse career opportunities in software development, cybersecurity, AI/ML, UI/UX design, QA, and content creation, while explaining the differences between product-based and service-based companies and their work models.
The session was highly interactive, with students enthusiastically participating in discussions and clarifying doubts about future career paths. Many expressed their motivation after hearing about Mr. Momin’s journey from Bijapur to contributing to apps available worldwide on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Speaking about his alma mater, Mr. Momin expressed gratitude towards Malik Sandal Polytechnic for building the foundation of his career and urged students to embrace continuous learning, adaptability, and innovation.
The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks by HoD Mrs. Malanbi Satbache, who appreciated the guest lecturer, dignitaries, faculty, and students. She reminded everyone that “this is not the end of a session, but the beginning of a journey with great knowledge and hands-on experience.”
Malik Sandal Polytechnic celebrated International Women’s Day with enthusiasm. Dr. Vanita N. Torvi, World Ambassador - Child Rights (IHRO) and founder of Kamdhenu NGO, was the Chief Guest. A Ph.D. holder in Women’s Empowerment, she has spent over 20 years advocating for child rights and women's empowerment. Her key contributions include child labor and marriage prevention, women’s health, domestic violence prohibition, and youth counseling. She emphasized women's vital role in society and was felicitated for her contributions.
Mrs. Shama Jamadar, the Guest of Honour, was also honored. Principal M. Irfan highlighted the importance of women’s education, with Vice Principal Mrs. Malan in attendance. The event concluded with activities celebrating womanhood and inspiring inclusivity.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Malik Sandal Polytechnic, Vijayapura, hosted a guest lecture on "Artificial Intelligence " by Dr. Sayed AbulHassan Quadri.
The event aimed to strengthen communication between parents and faculty, focusing on student progress and collaborative development.
The celebration recognized achievements, awards, and contributions in the true spirit of the Republic. The Chief Guest, Ms. Shivalila Hiremath—an alumnus of the Commercial Practice Department of MSPT and now a government employee at Karnataka State Administrative Tribunal, Kalburgi—shared her inspiring journey and strategies for success.
The event also featured sports prize distributions and faculty honors for PG Gold Medals, NET qualifications, and book authorship, further elevating the day's enthusiasm. Both Prof. Irfan Hundekar (Principal, MSPT) and Prof. Mansoor Kolar (Principal, SIBA) shared motivational messages celebrating excellence and dedication.
The event included a comprehensive 10-day bridge course covering English, Mathematics, and Computer Skills, which commenced on June 20, 2024. Yoga Day was a session specifically designed for students focusing on meditation, neurobics and brain exercises. This was followed by a 5-day series of engaging logical learning activities, in the form of various competitions where students showcased their talents and were awarded. The program featured the introduction of faculties, office staff, and HoDs of the seven departments, and provided an in-depth overview of the diploma course.
The chief guest, Prof. H. K. Yadahalli, Head of the Psychology Department at SECAB A.R.S.I. College, emphasised the importance of skills and talent in employability and success in any field.
Another distinguished guest, Prof. Asif Dodmani SECAB I.E.T. motivated the students by highlighting hardwork for success and responsibility of social contribution. He encouraged the students by giving away prizes to the 3 final year toppers.
An alumni of MSPT spoke of her experiences - which was live testimony for MSPT’s career orientedness.
Freshers expressed confidence regarding their success in future. The Induction Program invigorated the students and set a positive tone for their upcoming academic journey.

10th International YOGA Day Celebration
MSPT held Parent-Teacher Meet for Odd Semester of the Academic Year 2024-25, on Saturday 24 August 2024. with a view to collaborating efforts for quality enhancement in education. The Meet was an initiative based on the performance analysis of the First Internal Assessment and shortage of attendance in the Odd Semester. Inputs of the stakeholders proved crucial in redesigning pro-learning experiences and educational environment towards aimed outcomes. It witnessed 150 + parent turnout with active involvement .
As a result, an immediate action plan of conducting 'Remedial Classes' (starting from Monday 26 Aug 2024) was initiated in the Meet to improve the performance in the Second Internal Assessment in the very next month. The Meet was successful in instilling a sense of responsibility and accountability in studies and fostering commitment towards their goals.
